By 7 a.m. Wednesday, shoppers had already lined up in front of the new Wal-Mart store in Simi Valley. Amanda Houchen, 24, and her friend Pam Barton, 30, were in the crowd. The friends from Simi Valley are regulars at the Wal-Mart at 255 Cochran St. on the west end of the city but wanted to be among the first inside the new store, dubbed “Wal-Mart East.” This store, at 2801 E. Cochran St. in the Sycamore Square Shopping Center, was one of two Wal-Mart stores that opened Wednesday in Ventura County. The other is at 2701 Saviers Road in south Oxnard. “We saw it being developed, and we were curious what it was going to look like,” Barton said of the Simi Valley store.
